Dig up the past. Clean up the present.

Why we built Rubbish Dinosaur

Natural history meets modern mischief.

The Idea

Rubbish Dinosaur started with a simple, slightly absurd question: what if the Plesiosaurus hadn't gone extinct — it had just become a bit... rubbish?

The Jurassic Coast is one of the most extraordinary natural landscapes in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, a place where real fossils have been found for centuries. It's also, like much of our coastline, under constant threat from the litter and carelessness of modern life.

We wanted to create something that celebrated the wonder of prehistoric life, the magic of modern AR technology, and the importance of keeping our wild spaces wild — all at the same time. The result is Rubbish Dinosaur: an immersive family trail that's part fossil hunt, part surreal art project, and entirely thought-provoking.

Learning disguised as chaos.

Education

At every GPS stop, a real fact about the Plesiosaurus unlocks — its hunting habits, its world, its disappearance. Kids absorb it all without realising they're learning.

Proudly supporting Keep Britain Tidy.

Environment

Every piece of rubbish your dinosaur might be built from is a real conversation starter. Why is this here? What can we do about it? The trail makes those conversations feel natural and fun.

An independent art project.

Art

Rubbish Dinosaur is designed by an independent artist. The exclusive merchandise, the surreal name generator, the randomised outcomes — every element is a considered creative choice.
