This policy explains what information Signal With Noise ("we", "us") collects when you use our AR trail experiences (including "Build A Rubbish Dinosaur"), why, and what rights you have over it.
Who we are

What we collect
- Account details: your email address, when you create an account or buy a ticket.
- Game progress: which locations you've found, your coin total, and any achievements, so your progress is saved between visits.
- Purchase records: if you buy a ticket, our payment provider (Stripe) processes your card details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We keep a record that a purchase was made, its amount, and your email, for receipts and support.
- Ticket codes: if you redeem a ticket code instead of paying directly, we record which code you used and which device claimed it.
- Live location: while playing, the app uses your device's live GPS location to show your position on the trail map and to detect when you're near a dig site. We do not store a history of everywhere you've been — only your current position is used, live, to run the game.
- Device orientation: if you enable compass rotation, your device's orientation is used live to rotate the map. It is not stored.
Why we collect it
- To let you sign in and keep your progress between sessions.
- To process ticket purchases and provide customer support (e.g. resending access if you lose it).
- To run the core game mechanic (showing you the trail and detecting nearby locations).
- To prevent fraud (e.g. one ticket code being used on multiple devices).
Who we share it with
We use the following third parties to run the app. Each only receives the data needed to do its job:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — hosts our database, authentication, and server functions. This is where your account, progress, and purchase records are stored.
- Stripe — processes ticket payments. Stripe receives your card details directly; we do not.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep account and progress data for as long as your account exists. Purchase records are kept for 6 years, in line with standard UK accounting and tax record-keeping practice. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see below).
Children's data
This experience is designed to be played by children, typically accompanied by a parent or guardian who creates the account and makes the purchase — the account holder is the purchasing adult, not the child. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you
- correct inaccurate data
- delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- export your data

Cookies and local storage
The app uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in between visits. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
